Capturing a voice on every page of a book came from a simple idea: Wouldn't it be cool if you could read to a child, even when you’re not right there?
We knew it was a good idea, too. Parents and grandparents have shared with us that they want to feel more connected to their loved ones—even when they’re not around—and they wish they could be there for bedtime every night. So Hallmark launched Recordable Storybooks and changed the way we think about storytime.
Watch how meaningful moments are recorded
From across the street to overseas, families share touching stories about how they’re able to make heartfelt connections with loved ones by using Hallmark’s Recordable Storybooks.
Q: Can pages be rerecorded on the Recordable Storybook to correct imperfect recordings? A: Yes. Make sure the switch found inside the battery compartment is in UNLOCK mode, then turn to the page you wish to rerecord and press the REC button.
Q: Will the extended storage of my Recordable Storybook with the batteries removed harm the recording? A: The digital memory is permanent once the switch found inside the battery compartment is in the “lock” position, even when the batteries are removed for extended time periods. For extended storage, we recommend removing the batteries to avoid damaging the product in case the batteries were to leak.
Q: How do I get the best recording? A: First, make sure you’re in a quiet, well-lit area, with the book lying flat about 12 to 18 inches away from you. As you record, remember to add your own creative touches like the child’s name throughout the story. And don’t forget to add your own message on the dedication page! Follow these steps for best results.
Unscrew the battery compartment and slide the switch to RECORD.
Turn to the page you wish to record and press the button.
Listen for the prompt, and then read slowly and clearly.
Press the button when you finish reading each page.
Review your recorded voice.
Continue to record by turning the page or press the button to rerecord your voice.
Save the recordings after you’ve read every page by unscrewing the battery compartment and sliding the switch to SAVE.
Need to troubleshoot? If the book isn’t working properly, try replacing the batteries (your recording won’t be lost). And if you’re having trouble hearing, adjust the volume using the switch on the bottom of the book.
